Water News:
A symposium titled "Our Troubled Waters" will examine the threat of endocrine disruptors and other chemical compounds that increasingly are being found in lakes, streams and sometimes drinking water in Minnesota. Research has linked trace amounts of the chemicals to the feminization of male fish in many rivers.
The symposium will be held Saturday, March 6, from 10 a.m. to noon in Willey Hall at 225 19th Ave., S, Minneapolis.
The event, the first of three symposia on water this spring, is sponsored by: the Freshwater Society, Clean Water Action; Healthy Legacy Coalition; Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, Lake Harriet Methodist Church Environmental Justice Committee; League of Women Voters, Minneapolis; League of Women Voters, Minnesota; Mayflower Congregational Earthwise Committee; and Women’s Environmental Institute.
